Manzini Youth Care is not only concerned about providing holistic and other various essential welfare services, its also about sports and recreation. MYC has the sports centre in the Manzini region, one of its kind, one that can occupy 10 000 people and a dozen number of sporting activities such as volleyball, tennis etc. This makes the Hall a home for sports where the youth can have fun and even use it as an opportunity to reveal their different careers.
It’s of a paramount importance to provide the youth with as many sporting activities opportunities as possible, this is merely done to absorb and conceive the youth and help them find their strength in this activities. Apart from releasing stress and as a search for career, sporting activities always reflects back to how much the founder St Don Bosco valued sporting activities. It even reflects as a command to be executed to the youth at all times. So, sports is truly a definition of St Don Bosco. We honor him by engaging in all this different sporting activities.
We have over ten sporting activities that the youth participate in. The youth is always said be energetic and vibrant, this is simply because they are still chasing goals, they are yet to prove themselves to the world and its feet. One of the things that helps them prosper and explorer is talent. At MYC we have a lot of talented young people that require support in order to achieve their goals, so, MYC provide endless support to those children, however, the support we give is unsatisfactory so we always ask for support.
Different sporting activities
Football
Manzini Youth care provide all necessary material needed to propel football. Some football kit are donated which is really good for the boys, also this helps grow more enthusiasm those who wish to be football stars tomorrow. We have both the men and ladies soccer.
Netball
Netball is one of MYC sporting activities. During the 67 minutes of Mandela day, MYC and the delegation of South Africa lead by the commissioner, they raised a campaign with an aim of creating Ubuntu (humanity amongst others). This campaign also featured sports, so, on this day they visited The Correctional Services to play netball in Matsapha as part of the campaign.
Other activities
Music
During special occasions such as the World AIDS day and many more, the youth gets a chance to showcase their different talents and one of them is music. Music plays a vital role to everyone’s life, so , having young people engaging in music is one brave thing since it might be a brake through for their lifes.
Drama
Acting is one of the leading career in the world, it provide jobs to so many talented people. Drama plays is one practice that the youth never misses during an event. So, having the youth take part in acting during special occasions is indeed impressing.
Cultural activities
Cultural activities is brimming with talents. Why would you be suprised because that’s just who we are. A large number of officers employed in local forces have earned their jobs through cultural talents. So, cultural activities such as sibhaca done by males and ingadla done by females offers jobs opportunities. So, MYC considers cultural activities so importantly.
Rugby
MYC has taken a huge initiative in developing and propelling the rugby sport. MYC homes has a lot of rugby players that have more courage and have a great future in this sport. So, we persist to support rugby in all different sectors.
Volleyball
MYC has a volleyball team that takes part in so many competitions. The VB team has also won tournaments and have come home with trophies.
